In this Post I am talking about Indian dresses. The most obvious function of dress is to provide warmth and protection,But it can also serve religious and ritualpurposes.Other basic function of dress is to identify the wearer and making the wearer appear more attractive.Dresses are worn according to the occasion,it could be formal, casual or a party wear. Here I am going to tell you regarding Indian wear "salwar kameez",almost all Indian girls love to wear this dress for any occasion.

India is a country that believes in traditional clothes.Indian dressing styles are marked by many variations, both regional and religious.Among various dressing styles Salwar kameez is also a popular dress.

Salwar kameez is made up of three significant parts that unifies together to give a lovely Indian attire.
The dress is a combination of three parts. The upper part of the dress is known as kameez which stars from shoulders to knee, well tailored according to the body shape of the wearer. The lower part of the dress is known as Salwar and Duppatta is a part of salwar kameez, which is veiling cloth of the entire dress.

Below are some of my projects on salwar kameez. There are lots of variations in salwar kameez nowadays.I tried few of them.

Salwar kameez is the dress which is worn as a normal daily wear to a gorgeous party wear.Even the several bollywood divas spotted wearing salwar kameez. They would love to wear these to the parties too.As I told you anarkali is in vogue now. Here is a statement from Vidya balan a famous actress from bollywood said to Times of India- "Though the Anarkali covers you from head to toe, it's still very sensous... like the saree," said Vidya who has an Anarkali in almost every colour and style. "I might have brought it back in vogue," she reluctantly accepted, "but Indian women have always been wearing one."

There are lot more to know about salwar kameez. There are lots of variations in salwar kameez. From time to time names and lots of different styles were introduced. In olden days salwar kameez was known by the name churidaar(Bottom) kameez,Which is as same as in the above pictures. It is very much skinny and has gathers at the bottom.

One more style is Patiyala salwar kameez.Which is similar to the traditional salwar, but it has more pleats at the belt portion and it has very good fall from top to bottom. This type of salwar is meant for comfortability and a different look. But the kameez(top)is similar to the traditional type, but length may vary according to the customer.

Parallel and boot cut salwar kameez were also in vogue for teenagers for sometimes.
There is no end for this dress in India, nowadays this dress is becoming more westernized and been used by western countries too.
By these words I am going to end up this post. But expect more(Cutting and sewing tips) about salwar kameez in my next posts.
